Shockwave Therapy
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy) is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in injured or painful tissues. These sound waves travel through the skin and into the affected area, where they create small, controlled mechanical stresses. This process increases blood flow, encourages the body to form new blood vessels, and activates cells that repair damaged tissue. Shockwave therapy also helps break down scar tissue and calcifications, while stimulating the body’s natural healing response.

What to Expect During Your Session
During a session, a small handheld device is placed against the skin over the treatment area. A gel is used to help transmit the sound waves. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of rapid pulses or tapping against the skin. Some areas may feel tender or intense for a short time, especially if the tissue is very irritated, but the treatment is usually brief, lasting about 5 to 10 minutes per area. Afterward, mild soreness is common and typically fades within a day or two as the healing process begins.
